Dirty Rod
A little more info. Which die is giving you issues (sizing, seater, etc)? You setting it up on a single stage, progressive, etc?
Boggus Deal
Some of them have some very sticky preservative in them. I had to clean them out really well before I could use them.

Push a squib rod/wood dowel into the opening. You should feel a spring compress if you press hard enough. If you don't, take it apart and clean it up. There is also a set screw that allows you to align the markings on the die towards you. Make sure that it has some sticky wax on it so it doesn't move after you've adjusted it.
