550 case feeder issues
Boggus Deal replied to Boggus Deal's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
It could be that old but I didn't think so. -
Installed a case feeder on my 550 dedicated to 45 Colt and am having problems with the operating rod for the primer system hit the case feeder adapter. Also, it seems like the little white rollers aren't quite in line. Anybody seen this and have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Dillon part #13005 Powder Activator, Pistol has just a tapered nose to bell the case and does not have an expander function. It will bell the case enough to seat the bullet but will not expand the case and will not cause any sticking. I don't have a photo handy but will try to post one later.

Procedure for setting OAL on a 550B?
Boggus Deal replied to ChemistShooter's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
That's kind of why I usually don't run my machines completely dry. I'll leave the shell plate full between sessions. -

REDDING DUAL RING CARBIDE DECAPPER/SIZER DIE
Boggus Deal replied to Eliboudreaux's topic in 10mm/40 Caliber
I love mine! Have them in 3 different calibers. -
Dillon case feeder for a 550 loader
Boggus Deal replied to Pete Whyte's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I have 3 Dillon case feeders on 550s and love them. -
Use the dies you have and as I load for at least 5 calibers on a regular basis, I have 4-550s and 1-650 set up. Extravagant? Maybe, as you mention, but my time is valuable and if I can load 2-300 rounds in the time it takes to do a conversion, its worth it. Especially if I change over 10 times in a year.

Case feeder variable Speed controls
Boggus Deal replied to Dpickl01's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I find that I can outrun the feeder on high speed with 38 Spl in the 650. And I don't think I go that fast.... -
A bit of a mess but I can find everything.

Dillon dies not decapping properly.
Boggus Deal replied to Boxerglocker's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Boxerglocker, your die is .060 of the shell plate? 60 thousanths? Not that it's your problem but Dillon recommends that it just be touching the shell plate. I'm guessing you meant .006. -
Best dies for .223? Money not a factor. Ar15
Boggus Deal replied to Smeeg's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
+1 Unless you're loading a lot, the carbide sizing die is not necessary as you still need to lube. I have not broken any of the Redding dies I have and run about 60,000 rounds a year through my 38 Spl and 45 Auto. And no need for the Lee die. -
Strong mount verse's bench mount
Boggus Deal replied to DonaldP's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I have Strong Mounts on all my machines. I load standing and they make a huge difference for me. The only downside is getting brass into the case feeder. At 5'7", I have to really stretch to get it up there sometimes. -
Redding Competition Die setting
Boggus Deal replied to Lynyrd's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
Some of them have some very sticky preservative in them. I had to clean them out really well before I could use them. -

Looking to get a 550B - questions about dies
Boggus Deal replied to LeviSS's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
LeviSS, I use Redding dies in my Dillons almost exclusively. That is 4 550s and a 650. I would go to the Dillon website and download the manual for the 550 and as it shows how to setup the machine, you will get a better understanding of what dies you will need. Redding sells a series of dies called the Competiton Pro Series, I believe, that is geared toward use in a progressive press. It does not come with expander die. -
Is anyone making a better quality firing pin plunger lever than the factory stamped one? I don't want to remove the system because I use the gun in some matches that don't allow removing a safety. Thanks in advance for any help. Travis

More politically correct? Nope. In the beginning of SASS, decisions were made to not allow moving with a cocked, loaded gun. Right, wrong or otherwise, them's the rules. Some of us CAS shooters don't care for them but we have three choices. Live with them, work to change them or leave. I'm sure there are people everywhere who shoot a sport and don't like all the rules. They have the same three options. For me, CAS is more about the shooting than the costuming. I dress as much as I have to to meet the rules and work hard at my shooting. Any and all of you are welcome to come on out to any CAS match I am at and I promise you one thing. You WILL have fun!
