himurax13
I picked up a 10mm Elite Match slide for a good deal earlier this year. It also came with a Sprinco guide rod. Can I use a regular recoil guide rod spring with it? The load I have been working up is a 180g (183g) Bear Creek Flat Point going roughly 1260 fps so that puts me at a 230 PF. I obviously need a stronger recoil spring but I am unsure what the range of weights would be for my situation. I would hate to get a 20 lb recoil spring and be unable to rack the slide, lol. Intercooler2
Sprinco has their own springs, but I would dump it and run Henning's Cone rod with a 20-22lb Wolff spring.

I use the 20, but I don't shoot nuclear loads either.
Nealio
You can run as soft as a spring as you want with that setup. The Sprinco just slows the slide down for the last part of the stroke. Or you can run a standard guide rod, but I found that with a 20lb spring the slide slams shut so hard that I was worried about the slide catch pin failing. That's why I put the Sprinco in there. himurax13
Well I wanted to tame the muzzle rise a tad. As it sits, I cannot get the sight back on target unless I consciously lower my hands down after each shot. Nealio
Depending on you're loads you can put a lighter spring in there. That Sprinco system was designed to reduce recoil.

himurax13
Well I am running 230 PF loads out of a 4.75" barrel. I just received the Extra power spring pack from wolf. I will give that a whirl this weekend.
bikerburgess
When I was playing with my match in 10mm I ran the heaviest spring Wolff had, I think 23lb. The only issue I had was the gun putting the brass into low earth orbit.
himurax13
I am hoping not to have to go to the 22 or whatever spring I have. As it sits, my brass is flying at least 40 feet before touching the ground.

Intercooler2
Cut your ejector down. I did a pretty non-scientific test... it makes a difference.

Gary1911A1
Cutting the ejector helps. I wonder if Henning's recoil buffs would also shorten slide travel just enough to help too.
Nealio
I had to cut the ejector down a ways. In fact I still have that sear cage....... PM me if you want it.
