Rudukai13
Important notes: Firstly, I will be running factory ammunition in .357 SIG - I don't have the time/equipment/space to reload at present. Second, this pistol will be built primary just for range fun. It may see some competition every now and then, but it's primary purpose will just be a fun, built-up range toy. Now that that's out of the way, I have a question regarding what I should be trying to do for the most benefit of using factory .357 SIG ammo, through a G35 Gen4, using a LWD conversion barrel with EITHER porting (LWD internal four-port barrel), OR getting a LWD threaded .357 SIG barrel and using the Carver 9mm Minor three-port compensator? I know factory ammo won't have enough gas to truly utilize a full-on competition compensator designed for up-loaded handloads, but I'm wondering if I will see enough more benefit from the Minor three-port comp to make it worth the extra investment over the LWD four-port barrel? Anyone have any thoughts?
igolfat8
I've seen some ported barrels at our club and the comped guns shoot noticeably flatter.
9x45
OP, are you planning on shooting Open Divison? Against 9mm Major with more capacity?
Rudukai13
I'm planning on building up a unique pistol with certain competition-inspired traits to have fun with at the range, mostly. Any competition would be an after-thought.
bikerburgess
With the SIG you could run the major comp, running the minor comp will not be as soft or flat but it will run find.
9x45
If you want it to be flat, it has to be hot, get the comp, and not the ported barrel.
