  1. If you’re the kind of person who isn’t bothered by it and just wants a good pistol, they’re great guns. It bothers me
  2. I’ve never owned a Staccato but had my hands on and fired several when deciding what metal-frame SAO hammer-fired 9mm pistol to purchase and I would say the USA X-Five is certainly on par with Staccato, in quality, fit, and finish. You probably get more reliability/less finicky out of the P226 SAO action too. Neither gun is a hand-fit semi-custom but you can certainly see where the price tag comes from. Honestly I think you’d be fine if you went either way. The biggest deciding factors for me between the X-Five and a Staccato were 1. I like things that are a little different from the “norm”, and 2. Staccato has really become a “do it for the Gram” meme lately. If you’re very familiar with the 1911 operating system then you’ll probably feel more comfortable with a genuine 2011. The X-Five is basically a great example of a high-end factory production not-a-2011. Basically a Staccato for people like me who don’t really want a Staccato
  3. There are two users on Arfcom who both have German-made Mastershop X-Series guns (one a X-Five and one a X6) and have also purchased the new Sig USA version, and they both seem to have the opinion the fit, finish, quality, and function are indistinguishable
  4. For the 508T I was using the Springer Precision filler plate and Springer’s supplied Holosun-specific hardware. Now not using a plate of any kind
  5. Well, I’ve been enjoying mine until tonight: One of the optic mount screws sheared off at roughly the 3,200 round mark. I believe this is a result of using a RMR-footprint optic and filler plate rather than a direct-mount DPP-footprint optic. I’ve ordered a Holosun SCS-320 optic (which utilizes a DPP footprint and is specifically designed for Sig’s R1P/R2/DPP slide cuts) to replace the 508T w/ filler plate setup. Hopefully that’ll be a stronger combination going forward. The pistol itself has been flawless with absolutely zero malfunctions, and is currently 1,200 rounds into a 2,000 round “no cleaning/no lube” reliability test
  6. Can’t let a little thing like factual accuracy and logical reasoning get in the way of Sig hawking their LyFeZtIlE brand bulls#!t
  7. The Staccato XC uses an actual true compensator, not this half-assed “integrally ported slide” crap that Sig has latched on to
  8. I had a brief moment of potential buyer’s remorse for having bought the Classic X-Five and then Aluminum frame and Sig’s totally-not-a-bushing-compensator “integrally ported slide”…Blegh
  9. Ok, I have a vitally important question for this pistol from experienced P226 owners… Who makes a good reliable high capacity magazine for the P226? By high capacity I mean like close to 30 rounds or more
  10. And there we go. If my reading of the rules is correct, this pistol as it sits now is not only legal for but would be competitive in LO division. Including with the X300U
  11. About 700 rounds of mixed 115, 124, and 147 grain FMJ/JHP loads will be a good starting test for this thing. I’ll be pretty surprised if any of this stuff makes it choke though
  12. Ah, good to know! Then yeah I’d say it’d be just about perfect for LO
  13. If you don’t mind shooting Minor PF, yes. Currently they’re only available in 9mm
  14. Decided to get one as my new general-purpose, do-all, high-performance pistol. It’ll be a nightstand, home defense, occasional competition, occasional carry pistol. First day impressions are very good, it’s solid, smooth, and ergonomic. Should make factory manufactured 9mm loads feel like plinking 22. I already have an optic and Springer adapter plate for it, just haven’t taken the time to install it yet. Current plan is to get the optic on it, then shoot the s#!t out of it for a year, then send it off to Bruce Gray to work his magic on
  15. I went a different direction. A full custom 2011 may still be in my future, but I’m gonna dick around with this for a while first
  16. So far Atlas, Akai, and Carne have said no. Rafferty’s books are closed. Does anyone have good contact info for Venom? They haven’t replied to my original email. If they’re a no go as well it’s going to be SVI by process of elimination
  17. I don’t handload. This is going to be a Minor PF pistol running predominantly 124gr NATO/+P factory ammo
  18. It sounds like Carne Customs is willing to build the gun using both the Schuemann Tribrid barrel and LSI Outlaw left-handed grip module I’ve specified, as well as additional specifications for ammo tuning and finishing
  19. So…The Tanfo (and the Schofield) have gone up for sale to help fund a new project that will fill this high-performance, general-purpose, do-anything pistol role. I’ll soon be making a monumentally financially irresponsible decision in this regard…
  20. I’ll give those three a call and ask if they can do what I’m looking for. It’ll be a few weeks still before I’m ready to actually put a deposit down and get on the waiting list, regardless of who I go with
  21. After reaching out to most of the builders recommended and looking through their prior work, it looks like SVI will be most willing and has previously built guns much more to individual customer specifications. It won’t be me sending in a pile of parts, but I’m confident they’ll be able to replicate what I’m wanting with their own pieces and make sure it still runs 100% reliably
  22. They replied already, they’re at capacity just producing their regular line of pistols and not taking custom orders any time soon
  23. Honestly I think I’ve been talked into saving up for a SVI at this point
