Slightly different hearing protection question

I've tried a few, less expensive (up to $300) electronic earplugs and I haven't been very satisfied. I'm a little reluctant to spend over $1k for the "good" ones. So far, they all do a pretty good job of blocking gunfire noises, but have lacked in the normal conversational hearing. I currently use ProEars Gold and I've been very satisfied with the voice amplification/clarity. Has anyone found an in-ear protection that equals or exceeds the clairty/amplification of ProEars Digital? Which brand/model was it?

I used the ProEars Gold muffs last year and was very happy with them shooting indoors.

But, as soon as we moved outdoors, the ProEars were to HOT.

So I purchased a pair Westone Defender II's, very comfortable and on the lowest setting has the same voice pick up as the ProEars.

I'm very glad I got them, and will not go back to muffs.

Do you currently use a hearing aid?

No, but my wife says I probably should :)

Thank you. That's the kind of review I was looking for.

KMCA, the reason I asked is that I wear hearing aids (2) - if my wife could find

a third place for me to wear one, I'm sure I'd be wearing three .... For me, it

seemed a no-brainer that I wouldn't wear my hearing aids to the range -

why magnify the blast of the shooting?

What I've found, is that wearing the hearing aids is a Great Idea - the aids

stop some noise coming in above a certain db level (they actually cut out

some noise), but allow me to hear, under my muffs.

I can use the cheapest muffs out there, and hear as well as I can usually

hear (not too well, but that's life).

When you start wearing hearing aids, you won't need to spend $1,000

on the muffs, and you'll be able to hear pretty well.
