Mike Seeklander's 'Your Competition Training Handbook"

For someone who is new to competitive shooting, Mike's book is not just a collection of drills. It is a complete 3-phase system from start to finish, including dry fire & live fire laid out in a logical fashion. There are also sections about the mental game, vision training & preparing for competitions. You don't have to do anything except make the decision to begin a comprehensive training program to get better. It lays out a training schedule including what drills & the number of reps to do each training session. You don't have to know anything about which drills you should be doing when. Once you've completed phase three you then assess where you are and tailor the program to work on your weaknesses. be warned, it's designed for those who are serious about getting better. the entire 3 phases will take you 16 weeks to complete if you live fire train 3x/week & dry fire 5x/week. If you can't train that frequently it just takes longer to ....

The Ben Stoeger's books and DVD are excellent. He has several and they all complement each other. I would start with the Practical Pistol beyond fundamentals book and then transition to the Practical Pistol: Fundamental Techniques and Competition Skills and finally to his dedicated dry-fire training book.
