Jrb305
I'm nearing 4,000 rounds on my Steelmaster. Gun runs like a clock, but is there any parts I should keep on hand that might break in the near future?

pbairborne
There was an article or two in The Front Sight a few years back by Bob Londrigan about maintaining your 1911 or 2011. He also addressed the spare parts you might want to have on hand. Does anyone remember those articles and in which issues they were found?
scottlep
4000 rounds...it is probably barely broken in. Stuff to keep in you range bag just in case....recoil spring, firing pin & spring, tuned extractor, Cmore battery, grip screw kit. Other than that if something else major like an ejector breaks you probably won't be replacing that at a match.
Nimitz
yeah, there's no too much to worry about .... the recoil master spring is not like other recoil springs that need to be replaced after a few thousand rds. I talked to a tech at STI and he said that until you get to 30,000 - 40,000 rds it doesn't need to be replaced unless it actually breaks ... Jrb305
Wow, 30k- 40k rounds! Guess I don't need to worry about the recoil master spring for a long time. I did have a grip screw fall out sometime during a match, so I now carry extras.
