diehli
Check it out. Benelli no longer lists the M1 Field in 12 gauge and only has the M2 listed under the Defense section. The M1 Practical is now the M2 Practical. Looks like M2 it is. Someone's gonna have to make sure parts are available forthwith! http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/m1.tpl http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/m2.tpl http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/defense.tpl http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/special.tpl
Gun Geek
Having shot both I like the M2 much better. The comfort-tech stuff does indeed seem to work. I don't think Benelli would sell many of the M1s with the M2 around, so there's no point in maintaining distribution, marketing, etc. I don't know if I can see a diff with the Crio barrel & chokes Let's hope they don't EOL the parts for the M1 to try and force everyone to buy an new M2. Big Shooter
New M1's are cheap now, though.
Paule
I spoke to Benelli about this a few weeks ago. Paraphrasing, they have not discontinued the M1 in 12 gauge. BUT, they have none in stock and have no plans to produce any more at this time... Sounds a lot like the tact Beretta took when they killed the 390 in favor of the 391. Looks like they are hoping the M2 will take hold before they pull the plug. IMHO, changing to a different choke system and going to a plastic trigger group was a bad idea, at least for those of us with numerous Beretta and Benelli SG's already. I have not had the opportunity to shoot an M2, but a GM 3-gunner told me that he felt the Comfortech stock was no better than the M1 with a limbsaver pad. M1 stocks will work on the M2's, just not a perfect fit.
double down
Maybe we'll see the M1 end up in the rack of WalMart stores like the Beretta 390 has...
chp5
Are the only differences the new stock, Crio chokes and cosmetic changes?
Gun Geek
Are the only differences the new stock, Crio chokes and cosmetic changes? New Benelli technology: Airtouch: Texturing on stock grip and forearm - better grip, especially with gloves Comfortech: Gel recoil pad, cheek pad and "ventilated" stock - Reduce recoil & muzzle climb Crio: Freeze the barrel & chokes for better patterns
davidwiz
If you look on Benelli's main web site, they still list the M1. http://www.benelli.it
