tank69
I just noticed that my Fobus dual Mag holster has rivets on the back bottom of the belt loop. So I drilled them out and made a "paddle" holster rig, is this stil legal for IDPA? Thinking about doing it to my IPSC G35 rig as the mag holsters I have are a total bitch to get thru my wilderness belt. Tank
Precision40
I'll take a guess and say theres nothing wrong with it. Besides, who's gonna notice?
Steve Moneypenny
unless you announce it to those your shooting with, or match director, who would know? i don't see any reason it would be illegal either, but there are whiners out there. you know Comfort IS a competitive advantage ;-)
tank69
That's my take on it, who's really gonna' know and even if they check, it functions EXACTLY like a paddle holster, so no harm, no foul. If I get any flack for it, i'll pass it along. Tank
tank69
Steve, I just saw your website, you are from Philippi, WV? I grew up in Shinnston, and moved about 8 years ago, to OH, they to AZ. I visit quite often as all my family and my wife's family still live there (Lumberport). Any chance you know any Arco's or Gobel's. Small world, huh? Bren
As of April 15th you can. I think the old/current rules said holsters couldn't be modifed, but the new rules specifically say that they can.
Ted Murphy
Modifying new holsters is completely legal. From the bottom of page 33: "NOTE: Modification of current holsters and ammunition carriers to meet IDPA criteria is acceptable." Also looks like you don't have to use the thumb break anymore. I don't see the "all retention features of the holster must be used" statement anywhere in the new rulebook.
Clay1
Nice point about the retention features Ted. Cut the damn thing off - it's just modified right?
