Boots for long, narrow feet

Recommended Posts

Look at European boots, typically Northern European. Many boot makers centered around Milan make very narrow boots. Cleats are likely to be more aggressive than yours.

Brands I would love to be able to fit in are (I have wide feet):

Asolo: http://www.asolo-usa.com/ make sure you check out all the categories, including Alpine/Expedition. I'd almost kill to be able to wear one of their mountaineering or Backpacking/Hiking boots.

Scarpa: https://www.scarpa.com/trailthis is the Trail link, but check out the others.

These brands are very well made and are available in stores in the States. You may have to hunt for them, but better outdoor stores will have some of the models. I've found I absolutely have to try them on before buying/ordering.

You may also want to take a look at Vasque. I have a pair of their Sundowner boots that were made in Milan. Their regular width is way too narrow for me, buy they make an honest wide. They moved production to Portugal and quality suffered a little. Then to Indonesia and they were junk. I've heard they are now SD IIs and made in Europe again. If so, they are worth a look. I've had mine for years. They have been up and down the Appalachian trail and the mountains (hills actually) of PA, NY, MA, VT, NH and ME. They have been up and down the Dolomites many times, and a couple of Alps. I will cry real tears when they wear out.

Here is an Italian boot seller in Northern Italy. http://www.dolomite.it/outdoor/collection/footwear I'm not familiar with most of those brands, but you may find something interesting.

Since you fit in adidas, it might be worth staying with that same brand.

I bought a pair of adidas football cleats that I have been very happy shooting in. I have a size 12 and a narrow foot.

The Adidas boots were ok, not great. I had to wear a 14D with an insole and the soles wore out really fast. I tried a pair of Blackhawk light assault boots, but they have a chunky heel (makes shooting on the move difficult) and I missed the traction the GSG9s had when the cleats were in good shape. When I say I want "something similar," I mean that I want high ankle support and good traction without excessive bulk or weight. I have a pair of Asolos that I like for hiking, but they're much too heavy for running around a field course. They make other boots feel like ballet slippers. I'll check out the Dolomites. Goldilocks' search continues.

You may want to check this Vasque shoe out in narrow. http://www.vasque.com/USD/product/mens-footwear/hiking/breeze-2.0-bungee-cord-cypres-07478;pgid=t_VIoY7hzKJSRpH3W9sj2KDR0000QEHwB0lF;sid=uVlXkxwU62tWk0kP4XleENQeZHXqjME4BEYsyKq_ Verysimilar to the model I have, but more current. Many colors. It is light and really quite supportive, depending on how you lace the top. I bought mine (in wide) t have a lighter alternative to the Sundowners. I will say I simply hate it for hiking, because the undercut heel does not offer enough support. On the other hand, that makes it ideal for rungun, because transitions, pivots, etc. are instantaneous. I've just about worn my soles flat, so it's time for another pair.

Here is the URL for the "new" Sundowners. http://www.vasque.com/USD/product/mens-footwear/backpacking/sundowner-gtx-burgundy-7142-07142;pgid=t_VIoY7hzKJSRpH3W9sj2KDR0000QEHwB0lF;sid=uVlXkxwU62tWk0kP4XleENQeZHXqjME4BEYsyKq_#pdpTabs2 As I said above, if they are made in Europe, they are worth a look.
