Scope Mount

I'm currently shooting an 85B for USPSA Production. My Shadow Custom is due from CZC some time real soon. :D

Given my old eyes, I don't think 57 is too old to shoot Production well, I have a hard time getting a good site picture and repeatable position of that sight picture on the target. I've tried several tricks and I can get down to about 6" groups at 50 yds supported on a bench.

I'd like to find a mount that I can install temporarily on the rail on the Shadow so that I can install the 1X4 scope I use for 3 gun. It's also possible I might use the red dot I have on a PCC. I figure that this will let me put the reticle and the target in the same focal plane and get a repeatable point of aim. I just want to do this to check the mechanical accuracy of the gun with various loads and then go quickly back to iron sights.

Are there any particular mounts that people would recommend. This won't be an open gun so weight isn't an issue. I'd just like something that will give me more repeatable aiming. Low cost is a bit plus.

I have one of these on the rail of my Sig p226 with a red dot. Works great and you can remove the slide under the mount so as not to disturb zero. $28 and free shipping. Comes from Israel but I got it in about a week.

It is exactly the same as the Sig Sauer mount shown here for $39.99 + 6.99 shipping.

These also work very well and are easily removed for cleaning but are more $$$. (I have one of these too)

The rail on a P226 is not a standard Weaver or Picatinny rail and the mounts referenced above will only fit on a Sig. There are other people who make bridge mounts for authentic tactical rails. Fusion comes to mind, but there are at least two others that I cannot remember just now.

Beg to differ. The UM3 mount (Amazon listing above) fits a M1913 rail (M1913 is the same as Picatinney) I have one on my FNX-45 with a M1913 rail and it works great. The Sig website specifically says their bridge Mount fits a M1913 rail. I have one and it in fact does fit on the same FNX-45.

I agree the Sig rail is different but their mount fits the M1913 also, at least the one on my FNX-45. I have not tried one on a CZ.

The original Sig bridge mount I bought from Sig for my P226 USPSA specifically said it would only fit the accessory rails of standard P226s and not on the 226s that came with an actual M1913 rail or any other Picatinny rail. Indeed, it did not fit on the Picatinny rail on my 1911, also a Sig. Nor did the M1913 rail I ordered for the Sig 1911 (forgot brand). Even though it was advertised specifically for the M1913 rail, it didn't fit. It was for shallow rails like on the P226. It now appears Sig does make a special version specifically for M1913 rails, since they reference the 1911. So I'd advise caution when buying to be sure you get the correct one. They are not interchangeable..
