AICS308
Thanks for the video. I have read about the process but this is the first time I've actually seen it done. A video is better than a thousand pictures.

calvinc78
One thing that would be nice to see. You said not all comps line up like that one did. Be nice to see what you do when that happens as I'm sure getting one to clock perfect is not the norm
jid2
It ended up not being totally perfect as there were clearance issues. You either remove material from the back of the comp, or the front of the slide - most people take it from the comp as it is more of the wear item. The normal process is to face material off the back of the comp on a lathe.

gng4life
Awesome video Jared! One thing to mention is that a lot of comps have set screws, make sure to take those out first. Also, had a question about the die. You said it was a 11/16 - 40? Why not a 685 - 40? Brownells only has a 685 (not a 11/16) die so did you pick the bigger die for a reason? Or its just so close that it works? Thanks again for all the help!
jid2
Die is basically the same. They are adjustable and can be closed down to smaller size to get the threads just right. So the 11/16-40 works well, and you can get them really cheap.
