Jeremiah
I have read in a couple different posts about guys that are "boosting" their triggers to get them smoother and lighter. What's involved in the process and does it actually help?
shred
"Boosting" (on a 1911 design) is pushing hard on the hammer spur while pulling the trigger. It's usually done right after a trigger job and the theory is it seats the mating surfaces a bit better (as well as rounding off the corners of the hammer & sear). Doing it too much or at other times may cause more harm than good (see: rounding corners)
BEDELLCUSTOM
it's actually called burnishing the trigger, and it does basically what shred said but can also cause damage the the hammer sear mating surface if done improperly or too often.
