GunslingerDK
I´m about to order some springs from Wolff but cannot find any comparison info on the difference between these 2 types of springs. The conventional spring is pretty much self-explanatory but the one that Wolff lists as variable, is that the braided type that comes with the gun from the factory, or something entirely different? The conventional springs go from 14lbs to 24lbs whereas the variable ones go from 10lbs to 19lbs. I´m guessing both types work with the factory guide rod? Steve RA
No, it's single wire, the coil spacing varies. All I've ever used - in replacement springs - but only have 1911/STI experience.
blaster113
Ive used both variable and standard Wolff recoil springs with stock recoil rods in my P226s. The aftermarket spring coils are a little smaller than the thick braided SIG springs so the recoil rod moves around a little more in the muzzle end of the slide. Doesnt seem to effect accuracy as both guns are tack drivers. Try a 13lb variable if your running 147s.... thats what Im using in my 9mm P226 Elite with 130pf reloads
