To your question would I shoot it exclusively? I don't know about that, seems like a good number of folks enjoy different classes for different guns they own. Right now its fun for me to just swap the slide and grab a big stick, but otherwise all the same muscle memory, trigger, kit, ammo, etc, that I have for Production Class.

When i'm shooting the Open Major gun, I imagine I'll have to put away the Production stuff for a bit, its a lot different feel on the gun/trigger/holster/etc.

Just shoot 3gun in open class. 3GN doesn't require PF. You can shoot bunny fart loads through your optic mounted pistol all day, as long as the plates fall. I shoot 95s out of my 9mm, with lots of gas to work the comp. Recoil is pathetic, but it will even flip spinners. Only problem is you gotta spend 10 grand on the other 2 guns to be competitive.................
