Stipling a SIG P250 / P320

"8.2.1.3.16. Stippling and texturing may be performed on readily replaceable parts of the grip frame

such as replaceable back straps and replaceable grip panels."

The SIG P250 and P320 pistols use a removable metal receiver inside the grip frame as the serialized part so that the grip frames may be swapped out to fit different hand sizes. Since the frame is itself is a readily replacable part (<$50 online) is it SSP legal to take a soldering iron to the fantastic, plastic modular SIG?

I'd vote in your favor at an arbitration.

I'd say it's easier to change frames on those guns than it is to swap out the backstraps on an XDm. You could try it. It might be interesting to have two identically stippled grips to trade back and forth to demonstrate the readily replaceable bit. I can't see the fully stippled 250 being any better for competition than a glock, M&P, XDm, ppq or a vp9 with grip tape, though. Ultimately not worth the hassle.

In the end, I think they need to find a better way of defining where stippling, checkering and grip tape are allowed and not allowed in SSP.
