Sixgun
I just procured a 5" XD in .40. I'm wondering what length everyone loads to for these. I'm used to loading long for my STI's. It looks like you can load out to 1.155" or so and still stuff them in the mags. Worse comes to worse I can just load them at factory .40 length. shred
.40? 9mm? .45 GAP? Let us know and we'll put it in the right subforum where people may be more able to help.
RIIID
I have found 1.150 to be the most reliable. At 1.160 they start dragging on the tube. Rich

Sixgun
I ended up at 1.145". I was having some drag at the 1.150". Now off to do some chronoing! Ray

Harmon
there is a guy who shoots with us that has 40 caliber XDs, with 180 grain lead loaded to factory length, its terribly unreliable. i cant say for sure if its the bullet or the, brass he uses or what, but i watched him have 12 failures to feed in one stage. is it just me, or does the 40 XD have LOTS recoil...feels even more than glock 40 caliber. brass-hog
I am shooting one in production class and 1.135 OAL is about as far out as I care to go. they start hanging up in the magazine any further.
