Steve RA
No, just remove any bell, the neck should be straight.
Rob01
Shouldn't be belled like pistol brass. After running through a sizing die you would want about .002-.003" of neck tension. That is what grabs the bullet and holds it in place. No real need for a crimp. Throw your powder charge in and seat the bullet and you are done. If you have dies with neck bushings you can set the exact neck tension by measuring the outside diameter of the neck of a loaded round and then subtracting ..002-003" and get a corresponding bushing. So if the outside diameter of the loaded case neck was say .313" you would want a .311 or .310 bushing. If you are not using bushing dies then you can still do the measurements just so you know how much neck tension you are getting with your dies. Doctor
thanks for the replies i am new to reloading why did the lee die set come with a crimping die?
Rob01
Some people will crimp with bullets with canulare grooves but I have found to get the most accuracy a crimp isn't the best way to hold the bullet in the case. Neck tension holds just fine. Look at the sticky posts at the top of the page linked below. Lots of good info and some might be more than you need or want to do but good to know. http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-reloading/
