  5. after not using the rl 550, i wanted to load 380 with small pistol primers. I used the yellow loading tip and the primers got stuck in the plastic. i had another new one and replaced it but they still became stuck sometimes. I put the blue tipped magazine tube in and turned it so it clicked. The primers completely emptied out of the tube on to the press. The plastic rod that keeps the primers tamped down and the battery primer warning device went on because none of the primers stayed in the tube. Now i KNOW i am doing something completely wrong. Help please. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read the manual and i still am stumpedGeoffrey P. Radoff,M.D

  9. the dillon is progressive, my rcbs is single stage and for the rcbs, i used one shot, deprimed and then tumbled and did the rest of the reloading.for the dillon, should i tumble first, then use the one shot and do the rest of the process? But that leaves the one shot on without cleaning. what is the correct way to do the reload geoffrey radoff
  10. using one shot on 32 20 new unshot cases, how long do you need to tumble before powder and bullet loading?
  11. i am shooting 100gr Hornaday xtp projectiles with 4276 powder. I can't get the powder but i can get reloader 7 anyone have loads they use with this combination?
  12. why do you need to crimp the brass? for a revolver just for fun target practice, is it really necessary? will the setback be problem if not crimped?
  13. i just bought a desert eagle 1911. The trigger is 3.5 pounds our of the box. It is not as smooth as my high end 1911's and i was wondering how to get the trigger as good as one can get it. dont shoot competitively except silhouette rifle and we have 2 pound triggers. Should i purchase a wilson combat trigger and whatever else or have a smith rework the trigger...for three pounds or 3.5 pounds? thanks
  14. factory ammo stovepipes often but my reloads with 5.2 power pistol 115 gr hornady fire all the time? need to only replace the recoil spring?
  15. I just picked up a 45cal 1911 and i want to improve the trigger. I am used to 2 pound triggers with my rifle silhouette and i want to have installed a high quality trigger. I would like some suggestions. I have read, changing the hammer and other parts is reasonable too. Any suggestions are appreciated and if anyone knows a great gunsmith in the phoenix az area, i would appreciate it

  17. thanks everyone for the help this forum is truly teriific!!!
  18. thanks Rod i am using dillon dies i have to look online and see how to use the case guage
  19. i have a case length gauge that i am going to figure out which brass needs trimming is this what they mean to use for headspacing?
  20. i screwed the decap resize die down and backed it off a half turn on my rl 550. Some of the primers would not extract and i am unsure how far to screw the die down so it might knock them out. Only two of 30 did not come out. And the directions in bold face say to headspace the brass. The STRONGLY recommend that to use their words. What is the best way to headspace the brass and why do they STRONGLY(their bold face) recommend to do that? thanks
  21. thanks i have not been able to find those powders
  22. I dont like practicing with my 38 special because it is not as comfortable as my other pistols besides wearing shooting gloves and changing grips, what could be the lowest load of power pistol to use with 148gr wadcutters so the perceived recoil is less and not get squibs?
  23. on the net there are a fair amount of posts aby out the handle on the Hornady puller breaking. Any opinions if the Hornady, Foster, or RCBS have a substantial advantage over another?
  24. I finally have my rll550 working a bit better. I am wondering how deliberate one must be when rotating the shellplate between stations so each die does their job properly with everything aligned properly. If i rotate deliberately and with care pull the handle down and make sure the brass does not get crushed(9mm), everything works well. I can load 10 rounds in three minutes being careful. As a beginner i see folks loading thousands of rounds, and i wonder if my press was adjusted with more precision, could one rotate between stations much faster? or is 10 rounds in three minutes a typical beginner speed? If i am not careful, the brass gets crushed either in the decapin state or the powder die help as always is appreciated
  25. the bullet seating station and the crimp on 9mm always line up periodically, the decap station and the powder station crush the brass unless i really make sure they are positioned properly i have the correct brass number 3 pins in place and i have adjusted the wire on the decap die (i am going to check that again) it really slows down the process when you do not have all four stations working in rotation without having to stop and throw away a crushed case. How do i fix this problem?
