N340 with 147gr MG CMJ

Spent some time with the chrono this morning to try some new loads with VV N340. I am looking for an alternative 9mm minor load to my current Bullseye recipe. The VV load chart showed 3.8gr as the minimum load for 147gr RN Rainier bullet. No data for Montana Gold. So I loaded 15 rounds each at 3.8gr, 3.6gr, and 3.4 gr. Based on the load sheet estimated velocity of 892 fps at 3.8gr.

I ran the 3.8gr loads first and cam out with an average PF of 127. Very low/soft recoil. I liked the load however it is very close to not making minimum minor PF. I plan to try another 15 rounds at 3.9gr.

The 3.6gr loads barely had enough to cycle the gun. Average PF was 121. Not enough for my needs.

The 3.4gr loads would not cycle the gun. Bullet left the barrel just fine but not enough juice to cycle the slide.

All shot through a Glock Gen-4 34 with a stock recoil assembly.

Bullets used for all tests were Montana Gold 147gr CMJ's

Primers were Federal match grade.

Brass was mixed head stamped range brass.

listed in the vithuori loadbook for a 147 rn....at coal 1.142

3.8=892fps

4.1=960fps.

for the 147 hp same coal

3.9=948fps

4.3=1015fps

i load my G35 with this powder,quite slower than bullseye,bullseye being a tad faster than VV320. my load with 340 provides quite a bit of recoil to me. i'm now working on a VV320 load for that reason.
