drysideshooter
As was pointed out, speed reloads aren't part of steel challenge. At least you shouldn't be reloading on the clock. What I did for my open steel centerfire gun is a magwell that felt best and helped me get a consistent draw and grip.

818-DVC
I had a purpose built steel gun in 9. It was 4.25" 8oz slide with a Schuemann and cheely Ti comp on a 2011 frame. Sideways Cmore etc. If I were to do all over again, I'd do it just like that with a single stack frame. image.jpg I really love your pistol. Would I be right in saying Matt Cheely built it? has a cheely-esque feel to it. Bobby Keigans of FGW built this gun. I tried to commission Matt, but he was super busy at the time. The reason I would go single stack for this particular style gun, is the smaller grip circumference, and because I live in CA where 2011 frames now cost over $1k. Never needed more that 8 shots on a steel challenge style stage, and I really only shoot that & WCSC with it.
