donnyglock
Can I thread a 5'' bull barrel and cut down a 5'' slide to match? Is there enough of the wide area at the muzzle to still make for a good fit at the front of the slide? Thanks
Flatland Shooter
Sounds like you want to shorten the 5" slide at least 1/2" for the threads. You will most likely be cutting into the tapered portion of the cone. But all is not lost. You could take a regular 5" barrel, cut it, thread it and then add a conversion cone. Match the finished length of the slide to the placement of the cone. But due to the length of the cone, there is a limit on how much you can cut off the end of the slide. Also you need to think about how you want to handle the reverse plug. I don't know of anyone that carries them on the shelf so you might need to make one. Kingman
Donny, measure the barrel. Schuemann made a threaded 4.25"

Bill https://egwguns.com/wecs.php?store=232536056986&action=display&target=11877 Tim Calhoun did exactly that for me on the limited gun in post 780. Ended up with a 6-inch barrel with a 4.5 inch slide. A bit more extreme that the OP suggests, but the concept works great. This uses a standard 5-inch guide rod and plug. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6195&page=
Redstag
I believe a SV barrel has enough length on the end to accomplish this. Pretty sure akai uses there 5 inch bull for this reason on there open gun shoto builds.
