Dillon tool head

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be putting a LED light on my dillon 650 press. I need to drill out the center hole to 1". Right now it's a factory 3/4". Will drilling it out 1/4" bigger have any negative effect in the tool head??

Here is a 1watt led. It's base is a tad smaller than 1". It puts out 60lumems

Not sure if there will be an effect on the toolhead itself but if you use any stands I suspect you will introduce some slop and the toolhead might lean. If you don't need 60 lumens you might consider the Inline Fabrications Skylight which should not require any mods to the toolhead.

Before I'd drill out the hole, which will weaken that casting...by how much who knows... I'd buy this: http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/handheld-flashlights/3-watt-led-tactical-flashlight/363/1310/

At a 0.85" OD, you could easily remove the bezel and it would probably drop right into the hole, and be a LOT brighter over your selection.

Alternatively, if you had a 12v power supply (which can be made dirt cheap from an old PC power supply), you could use this:

http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/high-powered/vollong-10w-high-power-planar-cob-led/979/2386/

Which at 12-13V input would give about 75 lumen.... At barely the size of a quarter. At that rate, you could double sided tape it to the under side of the press casting.
