harleyvet02
I've tried several searches and can't find a good answer. I have been using Solo 1000 for quite a while to load 9mm and 40 minor. I also use it to load some .45 general range loads. I can't seem to find any! Locally I can get Unique, Clays, and Red and Blue dot. Which of these would be a good substitute for Solo? I have some Solo left and can wait a little while if it will come back in a reasonable time. Just looking for alternatives. Thanks
bikerburgess
Clays is great for 45 and 40 Minor, I believe it is a little fast on the fast side to be optimal for most 9mm. Unique will work well for all the listed calibers. Mike
harleyvet02
Thanks Mike. I think I will try a pound of Clays since I mainly shoot 40. I hate changing things if they work .
Waterfowl-widowmaker
Try 3.0 grains of clays behind a 180long grain bullet.
Mark R
Try 3.0 grains of clays behind a 180long grain bullet. Works for me too! 2.8-3.0 grs and a 185 moly bullet. Soft shootin'
noylj
Clays, to me, sucks. Not that accurate and pressure spiky. My jug of Solo 1000 seems to be close to Red Dot, AA2, WST, and Am. Select. I like Red Dot, but many don't. Many love WST, I don't. AA2 is one of my favorite powders for light loads. Am. Select has not performed, in terms of accuracy, as well as Solo 1000, AA2, or Red Dot. Solo 1000 is great with lead bullets.
