RussellM
We are going to be traveling to Area 5 in a few weeks and I would like to know if there is anything we should know or need to do while in Illinois with our guns? Do they need to be carried a certain way, ammo seperate ect. Edited May 30, 2013 by RussellM
dover0020
When we went last year we carried our guns in a locked hard case. We also did not bring our carry guns.
furyalecto
Unloaded in a range bag, not readily accessible (trunk or rear of vehicle) should cover you. http://www.isp.state.il.us/docs/1-154.pdf
ckell101
Another thing is that ammo/mags and guns are separate. i.e. gun in one bag/box and mags in another. I always put the gun in one of those range bag envelopes and my mags in one of those carriers and then put each bag/box in a different compartment in my range bag. Being from Illinois, it's not as bad as everyone cuts it out to be. The Administration is crazy. But the law enforcement is usually individuals like you and me who can't figure out why Chicago runs the entire state. But as previously stated, I wouldn't even bother bringing a carry gun.
