Super 1050 dropping primers

Recommended Posts

OK Guys, need some sage advice.

I think I am too deep in the forest and can't see the trees anymore.

My Super 1050 just recently started dropping primers.

This afternoon I loaded 500rds of .223 and there were 125 primers beneath the reloader when I was done.

They were in perfect condition.

No Jams, No mechanical problems.

Its just DUMPING primers.

This has to be something really simple and I am looking right at it and just not seeing it.

SUGGESTIONS?

Check and make sure everything is clean. Check the blue tip on the end of the primer tube inside where you fill the loader and also check the hose on the primer slide.

when I start have dropped primers this usually fixes it.

Yep, I'd bet money its the plastic tip (either blue or red) on the primer tube. They use them on the SD, 550 and 1050 and if you have primer issues they are generally the cause. I have heard some folks clame the brass end that is used on 650 primer tubes (that I have never had a problem with) but I have never lit off a primer in a reloading machine and Dillon sends me new ones for free. I figured if they thought it was a good idea they would send them all with brass from the start.
