CCW 4rd shell holder v Safariland 4rd holders

Recommended Posts

Safariland sells them with an ELS fork attachment.

I have both CCW and Safariland and they are identical.

Safariland USED TO source the shellholders from CCW and they said CCW on them [082], but very recently [this year's Shot show, I think] Safariland changed the design to be more like the Progressive Machine shellholders [085]. I don't know if they are still being made by CCW, but there are definately 2 designs, and old which is identical to CCW, and a new, that is not.

Old style [082]:

New style [085, crummy pic]

Those two are definitely not the same thing.

Those two are definitely not the same thing.

I have seen them in person and the 085 safarilands are much thicker and seem much sturdier than the 082 CCW/Safarilands.

EDIT:

I was not entirely correct, as it seems CCW has changed their design:

So, apparently the "OLD" safariland 082's are the "old" CCW and the New Safariland 085's are still from CCW, but the new style. I do, however stand by my previous assertion that the 085's seem much sturdier than the 082's.

and apparently, this is all old news...
