310yuma
I have a new 627-5 that bought mainly for steel plates as 8 seems better than 6. Question can the hammer lock parts be removed or is it uneccessary to remove to obtain a better trigger pull. I know very little about the newer Smiths as my 12 or more Smiths all have the firing pin mounted on the hammer.Yes I know I am old Thanks Edited May 25, 2012 by 310yuma
Waltermitty
When the lock is working correctly is has no effect on trigger pull. Having said that, all of the lock hardware is removed from my two 625-8's because my hammers aren't compatible with the lock function.
310yuma
If I may ask what hammers have you installed in your 625, and are they mim or forged?
Jaxshooter
All of my revolvers have the locks removed. Mike Carmoney did all of the triggers and removed the locks.
Waltermitty
If I may ask what hammers have you installed in your 625, and are they mim or forged? One is a radically modified original MIM part. It was easy to work with and polished up to a mirror finish. The other is an Apex part https://apextactical.com/store/product-info.php?pid6.html In the MIM part I probably have $300.00 worth of personal labor. The Apex part was supplied with the stirrup by Randy Lee and it dropped right in and I had the gun running in no time. It was definitely the bargain of my two approaches. TonyT
I have more than 10,000 rounds through two S&W 627's with the loack and have not expereinced a single problem. The revolvers function as intended.
Petrov
The MIM hammers are stupid tough and hard, I will dare go go as far as saying that they are more durable than S&W milled hammers.
