JD45
They should not let you out of high school or be elected to any public office until you read this book by Aldo Leopold. This is by far the most important book that I have ever read. Look for the one that includes the 'Round River' essays. If you think that you know everything about ecology and conservation then this book is for you.

TriggerT
I started college life as a Natural Resources major at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, and this WAS required reading for several of the classes there. Helps that UWSP is in the middle of the area that is talked about in "A Sand County Almanac." If you are ever wondering when he chose that title, go up to central WI on a nice windy day, and be ready to loose a layer of skin in the wind.
