NicVerAZ
As I am starting to get in the mindset of owning a 1911 and therefore reloading 45 ACP, I cleaned the once fired brass I picked up at different ranges. I realized that many have a dimple in the middle, between the rim and the opening, perpendicular to the rim, about 1/16 or 2mm (somewhere between that). Any idea what kind of pistol causes this and it this will be an issue? Thanks!
Steve RA
Opening - primer area or mouth of case ?? You may be talking about an ejector mark (where the ejector hits the base of the case as the slide retracts) but I'm not real sure about the location you are asking about. ben b.
If it is on the side of the cases, dings are probably from bouncing off the eject ports of standard 1911A1 slides. No BFD. Many slides have scalloped ports to stop dinging brass.
GT1
It is not uncommon, resize them and load them up.
practical_man
a little ding in the case mouth is no problem at all. sizing die will take that right out.
DougCarden
A nanosecond after firing the case will look like brand new too......
