gunner40sw
I have a 9mm STI edge with one of those funky recoil master guide rods in it and I hate it. I have a Dawson tooless guide rod I am not using and I was thinking of dropping that in. What lb spring has anyone used to have the gun run smooth. DyNo!
Depends on a lot of things. Your grip, the weight of various parts of the gun, your weight, your preferences, etc. I shoot 125ish PF with a 8-9lb spring. 17lb Mainspring. Nothing is lightened but I have a short dust cover and a classic slide. Edited March 25, 2012 by DyNo!
twodownzero
I use a 10 lb in my STI Spartan 9mm. I might switch to a 9 lb. I would suggest a 10 lb for your heavy unique slide, or a 12.5 if you prefer a bit heavier spring. I run a 17 lb main as well.

Doc Hunter
The Colt 1911 factory standard for full loads in the 9mm 1911 is/was 14 lbs. Not saying you should run that. Edited March 27, 2012 by Doc Hunter
ebg3
I'm using an 8lb recoil spring and a 17lb hammer spring in an SV 9mm with a short wide dustcover and bull barrel. 130-135 pf.
