I like some of the VZ grips but I also like my Ed Brown main spring housing because it has the same checkering as my sti front strap. the techwell seems to be the best choice for a magwell... I took my factory STI grips and with the magwell installed and one grip installed I put some finger nail polish on the tab on the magwell. Then I pressed the stock grip onto the gun and had a nail polish mark right where the tab hits the factory grip... I dont have any tools to make the notch though so that is where I stopped... Following his lead, I did it to a pair of G10 Larry Davidson grips that I really like. First side took me about an hour, second side too about 15 minutes.
