    Choices

After a bit of time you get what you need and maybe a little of what you want. It feels good to just say to yourself, "which one do I feel like today".
  2. 180 BC, OAL 1.180, crimp .421, 4.82g U-Clays - STI Edge ave 901fps (162pf), STI 6" 2011 ave 943fps (169pf) this is my 6" load. 200 BC, OAL 1.180, crimp .421, 4.21g U-Clays - STI Edge ave 844fps (168pf), STI 6" 2011 ave 874fps (174pf) this is my edge load. A friend gave me this load I just tested, It has a shorter OAL. I needed something shorter because my 1911 would not take my long moly loads (freebore). 200 BC, OAL 1.142, crimp .420, 4.0g U-Clays - STI Edge ave 848 (169pf), STI 6"2011 ave 853 (170pf), STI 1911 ave 851 (170pf)

    Wait time.

This sounds normal to me. My open gun took 7 months. My limited 6" took 6 months. Is there a no wait custom gun builder?
  4. What made you consider COM. Is that the holster maker your familiar with? I don't know much about them, I did not consider them when I purchased for my open gun. I bought the DAA RaceMaster. I love mine but its the only thing I use. Been shooting LIM, L10 and open with that holster and like it. What I like is the adjustment capabilities but Manny's does and Ghost does. Does COM have this adjustment, I don't know. The website comholsters.com doesn't even show an open holster. If you want to support a shooter and small business, COM looks like the way. If you want an engineered piece of race equipment, look at the others. but really I could be happy with anything if I chose it, so you chose on.
  5. Jerryt, If your gonna spam, at least read the the topics in the first page of the general reloading forum. Someone already mentioned this. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=161000&view=findpost&p=1796445 They are legit though and I got my bullets that I ordered..
  6. I did receive the rest of the order this week.
  7. Ok, so my first packages from the 10k bullet order arrived. I was notified by email that I would receive 5 packages total. One of the bear creek boxes blew up in the flat rate but they had taped the corners and creases. It does not look like any bullets were lost. So not bad, ordered over weekend and got some bullets by Thursday. So yes indeed he has them in stock.
  8. This is a really fair assessment above. I have one and like the backpack rather than the one shoulder carry, especially if you have ammo and guns for a day of practice. For matches it can be overkill because your not far from your car and can leave some things behind. But for matches I will generally bring my highpower cart, so i don't need the backpack per se. The pack stays filled and I only downsize when needed. It has its place and purpose among all my range bags. I would buy one again.
  9. Because of that quick email response, I just sent an order for 20 boxes of the180's. I'll let you know when I get them.
  10. I sent them an email and got a quick response from them The reply Thank you for checking but the site is correct. Over $100 would be free shipping. I'll get them out Monday.
  11. Yeah I am with you on putting the info out there. I just went to the website and it does not quote postage. So i put in a 20 box order, and have to guess what they will charge me for postage. if I order through bear creek postage is free over like $100. I have not had a problem getting bear creek bullets but I usually don't need them tomorrow either. If this place does usps flat rate included then a CA person may be interested to avoid a sales tax.
  12. Couple of add on questions to this rather than start a new thread Can I just put the grx on an extra 550 tool head, say at station 3, and just size it that way. Any issues with pushing a loaded round through. Reason - I have about 10000 rounds already loaded that run like crazy through my 2011, but I got a new sti 1911 and it has a tight chamber. Maybe 1 in 15 pass a barrel check (but all these pass the 2011) and its at the base of the brass that binds. Right where my sizing die doesn't reach. I have checked and its not the bullet ogive (that's what I thought at first). If not I will just process my brass before loading for the 1911. Thanks
  13. I use Bear creek 200gr Crimp .422 Oal 1.180 Universal clays 4.2g This is about 850Fps out of a sti edge I use n320 for my jacket loads,
  14. I find "Make Ready" said fairly loudly accomplishes that same thing, as do the rest of the range commands..... Fair enough. remoandiris - that would be interesting. They would basically be restricting any comment from the RO upon contact with the shooter other than make ready. We could not say things like, step into the shooting area, etc. To be clear, anything said prior to make ready is not a range command. Anything after make ready that is not in the rulebook, per uspsa, that is an error on the RO and a problem.
  15. Ok, I am familiar with this club and area. I shoot this club as a home range. It has a lot of very good and long term shooters. There are also quite a few, me included, RO's shooting the matches. As I have cleared the range and walking to the start position, I will ask the ARO, who my shooter is or if someone is standing at the start position, I will ask if they are my shooter. Because most squads at this club have shot together for years it can have a lot of conversations going on behind the shooter. I stand next to the left or right of the shooter, looking left and right to see that no one will be on our 180. I will say to the squad, range is going hot. Now this is not range command for the shooter, its not meant for them. It is meant for the squad, letting them know I have the the stage and we are starting our business. This also quiets the squad so the shooter can focus on what he is about to do. Now I step behing the shooter and start the range commands. Hearing the OP makes me think he was in this kind of situation possibly. With these kinds of, I'll say noisy squads, this help control the range. Some may frown on this but the reality is I am not a mute before the make ready command and it is the shooter responsibility to follow my instructions during this period. I think due to these conditions and having shot there a while, I just look at the RO until I hear and see him say make ready. For the OP, keep coming there, they setup some very hard stuff that makes you a better shooter. The 2matches a month there typically get near 100 shooters, so it's usually 20 person squads and the RO has to let all know the shooting is about to begin. FYI I was not his RO..

    waiting...

    How soon is now
  17. I have the range pack pro and love it. Currently use a high power range cart at big ranges. Is this any good. It looks good and is available now I think. Anyone who has one, kindly offer an opinion after your purchase.
  18. Wow those pics came out small, these should be bigger.
  19. Glad i did it. I love the pistol. I had the cash so i went for it. I like the look, it is an eye catcher at the match. I did the standard treatment, wide ambi's, Koenig hammer, EGW sear and disco, Mclearn long firing pin, 17lb ISMI MS, FLGR and 12.5 ISMI Recoil spring. I like my flat trigger and am migrating my other pistols this direction. The trigger rolls off at 2lb's. Mags for the 40 in 1911. With the following mags I have had zero issues. I use 45 ACP ACT-MAG's (Dawson base pads) I got from Brownells (use Enos's store link) and Wilson 47DE's I got on the classifieds. I like the ACT's more. The Wilson's are a larger diameter and just fit the space in the the frame more, not tight but its easier to feed the ACT mags into the pistol at speed.
  20. I have seen many posts about how a new shooter introduces themselves with their location and we assist by listing some uspsa clubs that may be near them so they can go play the game. It got me thinking about how lucky I am to be in a uspsa rich area. Then I started thinking about how many matches are within a driving distance from me, matches per month and how many shooters attend them. So I grabbed my scratch pad and used April stats and I got this. These are my options to shoot. I have 9 uspsa matches I can shoot from 5 different clubs. In April's 9 matches we had 493 registered shooters. Actually this looked low because we definitely pick up activity in the summer. All are within 120 miles of me and I am on the edge of this radius of clubs. And this does not include the multi guns, steel challenge and idpa matches that also occur at these clubs. It's nice to live around so much activity and the competition is great. I have made many good friends over the years. www.richmondhotshots.com www.actionpistol.org www.tasc-ipsc.com I have only seen this kind of participation in the Phoenix area but I am sure many other places have great scenes as well.
  21. I was handling a gen4 g34 today. All good for me except the mag release, although wider, is not tall like the gen 3's
  22. Ditto, I was just citing the rule. As the RO I would have stopped him before the prohibited action and made the remedy for the shooter at the line. This does come up at the places I shoot and we deal with it right there, the shooter tells me the issue and we get support up to fix it. At the make ready point though, the RO is in charge, but they have to be in charge. The ro in this video may feel ok, I am not focusing on them, just making that point.
  23. There is lots of SS, production and L10 fun to be had for any new shooter in Ca. Go with what you got. The bay area and Sacramento valley have lots of uspsa activity.
