NRA Multigun rules?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know where to find NRA multi gun rules? I looked here: http://www.nrahq.org/compete/nra-rule-books.asp and came up with nothing. Also did a bit of searching to no avail.

Basically I am gearing up for the Midwest 3gun in May and want my shotgun to be legal according the NRA rules. I know some sanctioning bodies say 9 total in the gun, while others specify 8 in the magazine. Anyone know what the rules will be fore the Midwest 3gun? Website just says "NRA sanctioned" no rules are posted.

NRA sanctioned means just that! They sanction the match. The rules are up to the match keeping within some general safety guidelines. You need to check with the MD for rules for this match!

The NRA is supporting 3-Gun but not taking it over.

There's a package out there from the NRA to help new 3-Gun clubs start up and they're also adding some 3-Gun stages in their new NRA National Defense matches and in their...they're like postal matches, but I can't think of their name right now. They have stages you shoot and then send you a package to set it up and give awards. I'm sorry I can't think of it. Really tired after driving back from Michigan today!

Anyway, check with the match director for the rules!

Boy, that was the long way of saying that! :roflol:

You are correct in that they just sanction the match. The NRA Tactical matches are hosted by various Law Enforcement entities and the rules for those matches can be found on the NRA website under Law Enforcemnt activities. Their website takes a little effort to track down everything, but go to law enforcement comptetitions, then to tactical matches (Just below Gunny's video.)

Thanks Wynn! I totally forgot about their LE matches that they really do oversee. I totally forgot about them because I'm not LE and we didn't talk about them much at this year's meeting!

The NRA LE Multigun matches were how the NRA kind of found their way into 3-Gun and from what I hear, they're going really well and there are more of them all the time!

Wynn - you keep me honest!

Midwest 3gun allows 9 in the gun at the start for most divisions and shotgun capacity is not limited. If your gun holds more you can add after start signal. Thats what the rules were the last 2 years.

Thanks for answering my question. Perhaps JJ and company can stay a bit more on topic in the future.

Any idea when the application for this gets posted?
