bsp212
What are good choices for a .40 S&W chamber reamer?
Toolguy
Pacific Tool or Manson. Avoid Clymer.
2alpha
What is wrong with Clymer reamers?
Toolguy
They don't have enough back clearance and the lands behind the cutting edge are too wide. Because of that, they are very hard to turn and create a lot of friction and give a rough finish. The other guys have the correct geometry on the cutting edge. Their reamers shave off the material cleanly and easily, leaving almost a polished surface finish when used correctly.
2alpha
Are all Clymer reamers defective in that way or just the 40 cal ones?
Toolguy
All the ones I've ever seen. Dave Manson used to work for Clymer but he couldn't get them to do it right so he started his own company.
bsp212
I ended up using an SVI barrel that came chambered and got lucky enough not to have to touch it once it was fitted. Don't ask me how that worked out, it just did. Barrel/gun shoots great.

kamikaze1a
MANSON! The owner, Dave Manson is a great guy to speak to if you have questions. You should see the shavings that come off his reamers as you turn it. Perfect, uniform curls of metal.
