Gas Block for a .308?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a .750 gas block. It is for a .308 carbine to be used for 3 gun. The gas block will be under the handguard (JP XL). I like the PRI blocks:

My concern is that the PRI only has two screws. Does the .308 generate recoil/heat where you need a clamp style or a 3 screw gas block?

The PRI will hold just fine, BUT you need to drill a small divit in the barrel where one of the screws sits so it can hold it from moving. When I did my 308 I just found the right sized drill and removed one of the screws and used the hole for a guide. Just drill so there is a shalow cone, no need to drill any deeper than that. and use hi-temp red!

I have used the .750 micro style steel gas block from Yankee Hill with zero problems

on my .308,

As Kurt said the set screw dimples are a good idea to help keep your

gas block from shifting ,your XL handguard will protect it as well.
