gunner40sw
I have a Dawson 2011 that is 9 years old and I would like to have a SV trigger installed with the interchangable inserts. Is the SV trigger a drop in part or does it need to be fitted.

Rob Boudrie
The new inrerchangable svi trigger will need some modification to fit the older sti body. If you are ordering an SVI trigger, be sure to specify if it is for the plastic grips or SVI metal grip. The trigger is a bit wider for the metal grip (both use the same inserts). You may need to fit the trigger by fitting it on the top and bottom if it's too tight. A #2 file, vice and basic hand skills should do here. gunner40sw
Do the inserts come in and out easily? How do they attach to the trigger?
oneton
The two I have installed on my guns fit tight. the insert is easier to install with the trigger out of the gun than in. I used a nylon hammer to tap them together. Make sure to line the set screw holes up and its good to go. Jeremy Hardin

JaeOne3345
I just asked this same question a few days ago. Bobby of Freedom Gunworks schooled me on the issue and set me at ease. When installing an SVI ITS trigger in an STI: -You do not need to swap bows or shoes or any of that stuff people say. -You do need to fit the SVI shoe to the STI shoe channel in the grip. Either thin the shoe, or widen the channel in the grip. Bobby recommended I buy the silver shoe and remove material from the sides until it fit. If you are for sure you will always only use SV triggers, then you can widen the channel in the grip. Basically if you want a colored shoe, you can't remove material, because that will remove the anodizing, and therefore you must remove material from the grip channel. -The insert itself is already narrow enough and does not need to be altered. Hope that helps.
