labrat
Greetings from the pacific northwest! Just got a springfield p9 in 9x21, and i'm interested in learning how to shoot the darn thing. Looks like there is a wealth of information to be had here, and pleasant civil discourse to boot. Awesome place you got here. Bill
GrumpyOne
I've got two of the SA P9's in 40S&W...Nice shooting. But the 9x21 is gonna pose a problem, ammo wise...If you have the inclination, I would look into finding a plain ole 9mm barrel for it.... Welcome to the forum! Duane Thomas
Greetings from Tacoma! What sort of shooting, and/or shooting competitions, were you considering getting into?
labrat
Yeah, I've run into the ammo problem for this, and considered it before I purchased the gun. Gonna shoot it for a couple months and see how it handles, then decide whether to rebarrel it in 9x19. It has a bar-sto barrel in it now, so i'm reluctant to swap it for an inferior factory barrel. If it shoots as good as I think it will, i'm just going to buy some 9mm dies and a crapload of 9x21 brass. Not sure what kind of shooting/competition I want to do with this. I mostly just go play in the woods near arlington, but i haven't fired a pistol up there much. Usually clay pigeons with the shotgun, or .22 plinking. I mostly want to learn how to shoot and handle this thing well. Whatever area of competition, it would have to allow pretty much any modification to the gun. It appears to have been modded extensively by the previous owner, who I was unable to talk to before purchasing the pistol (it was on consigment). Who knows, it may be factory this way, as when I went to remove the non-functioning aimpoint 5000 on top, i realized the slide had no open sights, or even dovetails to put them in. That's for another thread though, I think. And good looking out with the sgs link, i'll definitely have to check that out. Thanks for the warm welcome, and I hope we meet on the range one day!
