5Shot
Looking to pick up an M&P 9 (most likely used) - given that this product has evolved some - is there any particular serial number range to avoid or some tell tale sign to look for? Thanks
blkexp98
I think there was talk of the sear plungers going to the larger MA compliant ones for reliability reasons. I know APEX was doing the mod but i thought S&W was going to only sell them like that now too. It makes sense to me and would cut their costs so i see it as a win win if they do it and maybe pass some savings to us. As for serial numbers i can't help you with that. I don't know exactly what else your asking but id get it without the thumb safety and internal lock as well. Hope that helps, Major
sdm74
I spoke with s&w cust. Service yesterday to ask about extractor. He told me they fixed that 2 years ago +/-
keno34
The newer verisons of the strikers and extractors are holding up really well. If you happen to get an older model just buy a new extractor and striker and you will be good.

MrVvrroomm
Do the newer models also have updated striker? Yes. It's really easy to identify the new striker assembly. Pull slide back to lock, flip upside down so you can see the rear of the striker in the slide. If it's shiny silver it's the new style. If it's black it's the old, original. The whole assembly must be replaced, not just the striker.
