sam sanfilippo
I have been shooting my first 1911. It's a Les Baer Premier II 5" in .45 ACP. I've put 14500 rounds of lead semi-wadcutter bullets through it without a single failure to feed and it is very accurate. I've noticed that the front end of the guide rod has been hitting the inside of the dust cover and has raised a burr there. Is this normal for 1911s with short guide rods? If not, what should I do to correct it?
rooster
If you put 14,500 rnds through it without a problem then I would file down the burr and forget about it. If you like full length guide rods I guess you could put one of those in. I just got a baer a few weeks ago, it was used and had a flgr in it and I took it out and put back the GI standard plug. I will start to look for the same thing. So far mine has been flawless but I only got about 500 rnds thru it.
