JimmyZip
Was running some rounds through my SOCOM 16 today plugging a small R22 can someone had left out at 150 yards. I noticed that some of the surplus ammo I was shooting had a delayed ignition. I could hear the hammer strike the firing pin, then the round going off. One round was late enough that I went to clear it, and as I lifted my hand from the fore end, it lit off. Crazy surplus ammo marked NATO M80 with annealed cases. I think it was British but I don't know for sure.

Bryan 45
I've had hangfires in OLD surplus 7.62x54R, 8mm, 7.65mm from the '30s and 40s, but never heard of them with 7.62x51. Is there a date on the casehead?
want2race
I have some ammo that does this too. Paky Surplus. It's crap and I would throw it away if I could. I thought it was my rifle since I installed a light hammer spring. Nope, did it in my other standard rifle too.
bigbrowndog
I've got some Israeli that occasionally won't go bang, I pulled the bullet and the powder is hard. perhaps thats why its "surplus", then when I tried reloading the cases they would split upon firing. its crap!!!! BTW, anyone want to buy some surplus 7.62x51????????????? trapr
