Mickster
I have my 16" AR-15 rifle with floating handguard zeroed for dead on at 50 yards shooting from an upright position at the bench with a sandbag rest under the forend and under the buttstock. So when I get to the SMM3-gun and possibly have to shoot lying on the ground from the prone at targets 200 and 300 yards away, without consideration for the natural drop due to gravity, will my point of impact be affected due purely to the change in shooting position? PacMan
Technically, no.
lmccrock
I would think sight picture would be the key. Given Mickster's parameters, same sight picture, same trigger pull, then same POI. Lee
kellyn
Are you shooting irons or a scope? Different positions can definitely change zeros as your head position shifts when shooting thru irons. Some people have no change while others do. Lots of highpower shooters will have different zeroes as they shift from offhand, sitting to prone. Scopes seem to minimize this. I always verify zero from various positions. lmccrock
And, know the parallax on the scope. Some are parallax free, but if not, different positions will have an effect. I was trying to keep my other answer simple, perhaps it is too much so. Lee
