Wolf guide rod and ISMI springs?

OK, so I'm a dumbass. I picked up a Wolff gude rod and some ISMI springs. I guess I should have asked, and I feel kinda stupid now, but the freaking ISMI springs don't fit on a Woff rod.

I'm impatient and thinking about chucking it up in a lathe...

Don't feel bad, I just did the same thing. I ended up putting the ISMI spring on my factory guide rod in my 35 and when I order the correct wolf spring, I'll use in my comped 17

yeah the end cap is just pressed in on the factory rod. I drilled a 3/8" hole in my reloading bench and I then press the rod up through the bottom and as the underside of bench stops the spring lock the top of rod just below cap with locking pliers and pull the cap then replace. by the way my pliers have rubber protectors to keep the teeth from digging into plastic. FWIW
