XtK
I was desperately trying to do a caliber conversion for the XL650 when I got stuck on the Primer Punch System. I tried to use a small wrench to get it undone but unfortunately it was useless and taking forever... So in being lazy, is it safe to use the small primer punch for large primers? It worked on a few test rounds I made, but im not sure if theres a long term or a commonly known issue with doing so. Thanks
Too_Slow
I think that you are much more likely to crush or detonate the primers doing it that way. I know that it takes time but DO change the punch. Brian
Pat Miles
You said it yourself...too lazy to do it right. You're in for a beating here. Don't add stupid to lazy...do it right! Dillon designed the machine with a large and small primer punch for good reasons. CYa, Pat
AlamoShooter
Dont be a fool and lazy. use a 9/16" end wrench,- after you use a allen head wrench to remove the primer slide ( the slide that lets pimers that did not get used fall free.
RiggerJJ
Yea, remove the little slide the skipped primers go down on their way to the floor. Then it will be much easier to change out the primer punch. jj
h2osport
The large primers will not consistently center on top of the small punch cup, and you will really be wasting alot of time and components. Just get another 650 and leave one set up for large primers and one set up for small. Randy Edited May 26, 2010 by h2osport
