elenius
I am not sure if I should get the 130gr FMJ or the 147gr CMJ. Anyone out there have any suggestion? I'll probably buy a 3000 case for the savings, so I'd like to get it right

I'll probably buy a 3000 case for the savings, so I'd like to get it right 147 with 3.4ish of N320. around an 11 lb recoil spring, 17 lb mainspring. YMMV
steel1212
I don't like their JHP square profile for 10 rounds in a single stack. I find the 125 CMJs feed MUCH butter with 10 round mags. I also don't like the heavier bullets but that is more a personal preference than anything.
elenius
I should have known -- as many different answers as there are options I have been indoctrinated with the heavy bullet theory, but I haven't done many straight up comparisons. I will avoid the JHPs just in case, since 1911s can be finicky, and are designed for FMJs. The CMJ has the same profile as the FMJ according to an MG rep, so no issue there... TonyT
I have used both the Montana Gold 124 gr. JHP and 147 gr. jacheted. Both shoot well with a discernible difference in recoil sensation. The lighter bullet being a bit more snappy.
elenius
Seems evenly split here and in other threads. I ordered 1k each of 124 and 147 CMJs to find out what I like.
Resjudicata
I'm using the 115 gr JHP in my Caspian SS. My load is 4.4 gr of N320 out of a Schuemann 1:24 gaintwist barrel. Very accurate combo. I use the Montana Gold as my practice/USPSA bullet in this gun and the Zero 115 JHP for Bianchi shooting. No issues at all feeding with the Schuemann ramped barrel.
