tk4
I have a stainless ar barrel that is .75 diameter. I would like to flute it to take out some weight. How deep can I make the flutes without causing any problems? How many ounces can I expect to drop? It is a 12.5 inch barrel.
fastarget
Matt Cheely did my bull barrel, he can probably answer that question better than anyone...........I never asked about the difference, the gun does point quicker than my standard bull barreled edge( he also lightened the slide . ExtremeShot
Any new info on this Todd? I have an 18" bull barrel for my AR that I would also like fluted. The barrel is from JP Rifles...called them and they won't flute it for me. Darren
benny hill
Fluteing is more for looks. It will take VERY little weight off the barrel.
jaredr
Fluteing is more for looks. It will take VERY little weight off the barrel. Knights armament has been shipping some civilian rifles for sale with a "dimpled" barrel as an alternative to fluting for weight reduction/increase in surface area for cooling, any thoughts on merit/benefits of that? Admit i'm probably just being lazy here, if I got out a calculator I could do some math and try and figure out what you can take off, but I'm looking for the easy way out by just posting the questionB)
