  1. MSA Sordin Supreme Pro X, water resistant, 5 year warranty. Yes, they are very expensive but worth every dollar. My first set lasted 7 years before I replaced them without hesitation with a fresh pair.

Don't waste your time trying to find a $100 pair that is equal to these. Believe me, I have tried almost all of them and they don't compare.

I have the same ones. Upgraded when my daughter's dog ate my old ones. Very comfortable with the gel ear pads. I would buy them again.

  2. -459.67 or there about

That would be awesome. SD and ES would be "0", but then so would your velocity.

I'm going to need some hand warmers if we are going to shoot in that kind of weather.

  3. At Ironman the ranges for the bonus targets are generally 500, 700 and 900 yards. You can shoot all the ammo at them that you want, until you time out. And I agree with Stlhead, just go shoot the match, borrow a long distance gun the first year and get a feel for the match before you build a gun specifically for that match.

Thank you. I do appreciate the advice.

About how many long range targets are there at Ironman?

Soonest that I could possibly go would be next year, regardless.

Usually 3 at around 500, one at 700 and one at 900. I think that last time I shot it you could score a total of 3 hits at each distance for a total of 9 bonus hits. I didn't shoot Ironman last year so YMMV. Stlhead shoots it every year and could give you a heads up on how it is run now.

  4. Do you plan on using the can at 3 gun matches and if so have you done the same speed test with the can installed on the rifle? On the above question carbon build up at the crown can affect accuracy because the crown is not the same shape all the way around so gas escaping behind the bullet is uneven. Whether you have a adapter or comp pinned on you still will have to keep the crown clean.

    Doug

I do not plan to use the can at matches. How do you clean the crown with a comp up against it? I assume it's more involved than just brushing the bore, right?

I normally pull off my comp to clean the crown, but my guns are all 16" or longer. Last time I pulled the comp the carbon from the muzzle came off with the comp, so it cleaned itself! Must be a way to do it, I just never had to learn how.

  6. Several local clubs have a .22 division in their 3 gun matches and 2 people on my squad were using .22s during the match yesterday. Only problem with shooting .22s now is availability. I've always had good luck with Mini Mags, I use the 40 gr., 1235 FPS version and I buy as many as I can afford when I find them in stock for a reasonable price.

  7. Prior to receiving my USPSA CRO certification last fall I was a USPSA certified RO & Multi-Gun RO. After receiving my CRO credentials I, somehow, am no longer listed as a Multi-Gun RO on my USPSA profile page. What happened to my Multi-Gun RO status?

Also, what is required to be a 3gun Nation RO?

You should be listed as: Chief Range Officer with Multigun Endorsement.

That's what it says on mine, but I think I had my CRO when I got the Multigun Endorsement.

  8. I am looking into upgrading the barrel in my M&P 9L and wanted to get the threaded version for a silencer for when the gun is not being used to compete. Any issues making this illegal in tac ops?

Both can and comps of legal size are allowed in Tac Ops, almost every rifle used in any division has a threaded barrel.

    Doug

    Doug,

    the M&P 9L is a pistol... :goof:

    Ghost,

as Steve said, no problem with a threaded barrel without can, and probably should use protection...

Oops, I read the OP and responded too fast, didn't pay attention. Threaded barrel with thread protector is the correct answer!

  9. Front of the gun will be a Strongside Tactical Stetch 16" intermediate gas barrel and a SLR Rifleworks Ultra Lite 15" keymod hand guard with a Lantec Dragen comp….so pretty lite compared to my 18" stainless BBL rifle. Also on it will be a SWFA 1-6x scope. I'm a little confused on the length of the ACE stock. Description says like 10", but 13" length of pull? So how long does it extend from the end of the receiver to the end of the pad? 10" out I could do, not 13".

Length of pull is measured to the trigger, the stock itself is about 10" and there is a 1" butt pad normally included. I have a couple of these and I prefer not to use the butt pad. It does not come with a buffer tube, buffer or spring so you will need to buy these if you don't already have them for the build. Ace also makes an entry version that is 7 1/4" long.

  10. To play devil's advocate, I have seen shooters swear up and down that they didn't shoot a slug on steel, but in 2 cases I saw last year the steel targets in question had obvious dimples in the steel so I issued DQs. In one case a shooter was stopped for slug on steel and I couldn't see any dimple although there was some heavy splatter on the steel. In the latter case I did not issue a DQ. One of the problems is that ROs may have a difficult time telling when a piece of steel is hit with a slug under some conditions. It is the RMs job to collect the evidence from the ROs and Shooter and make a ruling. I personally have never shot at a match where I thought the RM was trying to DQ shooters, but someone has to do the dirty work and there are often hard feelings. My suggestions is to suck it up and if you feel you were wronged, don't attend matches with that are run by that person. Complaining here will do little to confirm the facts of the situation and is unlikely to make you feel better about the DQ.

  11. If you are looking through a piece of glass or plastic it's an optic. All the pictures posted show that. I'd have to see one in person to really tell but that is unlikely because I'm not going to buy one, most Tac Optic shooters will not buy one and Open shooters will buy a real optic.
