  1. Oh oh..... I feel a new job coming my way...... BDH, You can get that new job only if you get those RM materials to me! But, that being said, if you feel that you, as a shooter have been aggrieved, by all means ask to speak to the RM. That is what we are there for and I, for one, never mind talking to a shooter who has a question. Arnie
  2. Ivan, Let me add my congratulations as well. Denise and I look forward to the day we can return to Budapest. Best wishes for many more happy birthdays to come! Arnie
  3. Brian, Do I have to beat you severely about the head and shoulders at Area 3? Will that inspire you get busy on your RM materials or will it just cause you to squash me like a bug? Arnie

    Volunteering

That may be so, Vinnie, but I need her a lot. Arnie
  5. Have fun??? Yes... Work hard??? Yes... But, volunteers???? Can we actually be counted as volunteers when we get paid (even if it is in Monopoly money aka Quincy Cash)? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, Brian warn me when you are about to say something funny. I can just see you know, trying to survive eating on $10 of Quincy cash per day. Then again, you did say you wanted to lose weight! Arnie
  6. As Denise said, we saw KimGuys a little while ago. Other than the dates of the Nats, she knows exactly how the Ritz should be stocked! Arnie
  7. David, I know that it happens accidentally from time to time, that is not a problem. Heck, I have been around the block a few times. But, after having worked as an RM at many area matches and nationals, I still say there is an unfortunate trend for a very few people to try this technique. And, as an RM, I inform the staff of certain squads and then the staff does pay particular attention so this can be prevented. Arnie
  8. Just the opposite, Kyle! The staff is dedicated to having fun _and_ working hard. We are volunteers you know. Arnie
  9. Tim, old buddy! Welcome to the forums, glad you are here. Arnie
  10. Hey, both shooters and ROs frequent the Ritz during the evening hours. While it is well known that there are a lot of ROs in the Ritz, the staff always appreciates those shooters who are brave enough to come in and have a refreshment with us. It used to be that all the adult beverage places were filled with shooters, but I think our shooters seem be to more dedicated now and do not go out as much at night. Arnie
  11. But, but, but....... you can't organize an RO crawl off, Barrettone and I can't run shooters, we are CRO's! On a more serious note, however, back in the day when there were actually PASA volunteers, that was a great addition. Unfortunately, some of the certified ROs did not treat the PASA volunteers as well as they should. Let's face it, a volunteer is giving up their time to help and if they get treatly poorly, they will not be back. Also, regarding competitors at Nationals taping targets, in my opinion, over the last few years I think there has been an increase in the incidents of a shooter who has a bad run, getting a target taped before the RO's can score the target thereby giving the shooter with the bad run a reshoot. Sad, but I think it is true. There is no way to prove a target was taped intentionally, about the only thing to be done is for the staff to inform the RM, who can then track that squad to see if "pre-taping" is happening often. If every large match could have volunteers to tape targets, both the match officials and the shooters would be happy. Arnie
  12. Okay everyone, if you procrastinated about sending in your entry to the Area 3 Championship - DO NOT MAIL IT NOW! Denise and I will not be at home after this Thursday, so if you mail your entry we probably won't get it before we leave. Remember, Saturday has been full for some time, Friday has a few slots left and Thursday is no problem for slots. If you still want to shoot the match on Thursday or Friday, just bring your money and entry form with you to the match and we will get you entered. Thanks to everyone shooting the match and special thanks to Emanual Bragg for being Match Director. Arnie
  13. Hey Troy, "One CRO who never runs a shooter...." Can you please break the news to Denise that I will not be running any shooters at Nats this year? Thanks, man, I know I could not get away with telling her that. Arnie
  14. Hey, I am fairly well trained, I don't do all that much damage to the carpet and furniture. I don't think Denise will kick me out yet. Arnie the Area 3 AD
  15. Area 3 is going to be conducted under the 14th edition of the rule book. The Jan 2004 Edition of the rules is still being shipped from the printer and will not be distributed to the members in time for the Area 3 Championship. So, Lee, you will still be a Junior at Area 3. Arnie
  16. The squad lists and the squad schedule are now posted on the Area 3 website. Arnie
  17. Not sure if the stages will be posted. Emanuel has the stages in a software format that I cannot use. I will check with him to see if he can get the stages posted on the Area 3 website. Arnie
  18. If you have not yet mailed your entry for Area 3 and want to shoot Saturday, you are too late. Today's mail will no doubt fill up all the available slots for Saturday. Still openings for Thursday and Friday, though. Arnie
  19. The rulebooks still have not been received from the printer. When they are received and distributed a date will be established when the rules will become effective. Whether that will happen before the A3 match is still not clear. In the meantime, Troy is correct. Right now you are a junior, if the new rules go into effect before the match, you will not be a junior. If you have already mailed your application (postmarked prior to July 7) we will not gouge you for the extra fee. Arnie
  20. Nice to see you admit you are not an expert, Brian! Yes, for the match to count as a classifier there are certain standards that Dave Thomas applies to the match, one of which is a minimum of 3 GMs in a Division. However, there will also be a classifier stage at the match. Arnie
  21. Rich, Better get that entry form in soon if you want a Saturday slot - not too many left. And, yes the prize table will be on Saturday after the match. Arnie
  22. Congrats! I'll be toasting one or several to celebrate for you... So, no more winter carnival (was this the correct name)? Luca, Yup, you are correct, we froze our butts off at the Ice Palace at the St. Paul Winter Carnival. Who knows, maybe we will get tired of being warm and will venture north occasionally to see snow and go fishing through the ice. And, we definitely will have to forego the "no champagne" rule and open a bottle of Dom Perignon at the new house. Not prosecco, of course, but Jerome might approve of the Dom! Arnie
  23. Hi Cooter, Glad to have you with us. As you have been informed, in USPSA, there are no restrictions on holster position in Limited and Limited 10 Divisions. Look forward to seeing you at Area 3! Arnie
  24. Just a quick warning. Dr. Wilson is actually only a resident physician. Once he finishes his internship, he might be accepted as a full physician at the Centre. And, by the way, Dr. Pinto, it is Dr. Christianson, not Dr. Christiansen! Arnie
