  1. I would check your primer seater cup for a piece of brass shaved off from primer removal or a piece of powder that may have landed on the primer seater punch. I have had pieces of brass shavings come off of casings when they are deprimed. They look like little crescent moon shavings. These will often times fall near the primer seater and fall in so that they are between the primer seater stem and your new primer.

  2. Same boat here. Two weeks ago, I decided to challenge my self to work our for 30 days straight. Minimum of 20 minutes a day. That has to make a person feel better. I have a couple of pieces of workout gear at home(bike, treadmill, ski machine). I have been able to fit in on average 40 minute workouts, and I can already feel the difference.

I was aware that I had to stop making excuses for not having the time to work out, and I finally did. It is so easy to say I will do it tommorrow, but that is a never ending spiral. Something had to give, so for me it was a little extra sleep. I usually work out after everybody else is asleep in the house, or early in the morning before everyone is up.

You have already made the first step in deciding today is the day, now you have to decide that you will keep going tommorrow. It really is as simple as "just do it"

  3. I have seen the local Armor truck guys qualify! Posted a thread here a while ago about them sweeping themselve with a hot gun and safety off. One guy even swept the instructor while trying to unload his gun.

Also had the same crew handling firearms behind the firing line while shooters were down range practicing! :angry2:

Great article, well written from beginner to competition.

    edited to add:

Localy we run a practical rifle match once a month that has 2 classes(hunter and precision) and 8 shooting positions. Hunter class is 45 targets ranging from 150 yds to 350(one 500yd target) and precision class is 64 targets ranging from 350-900 yds. Par time is used and changes depending on how many targets from the current shooting position and what range. Figure 3.5 to 4 minutes for precision class 8 targets at multiple ranges. Each shooting position is comparable to a stage in a USPSA match in that all squad members shoot from current position and then move as a group to the next position.

  5. $50 a year or $500 for life membership. 10ea 25yd pistol bays(one 40yd wide with cover), 4ea 50yd pistol/rifle bays(1 with cover), 3ea 100yd covered bays, 2 300yd covered bays, shotgun area, and a 1600 foot tall backstop.(Leroy beat me to it)

$40 a year for 1000 yd capability(only open certain times) several bays in the 200-300yd range, and a 600yd bay all with cover.
